About Yoga...

The ancient practice of yoga has evolved over thousands of years, and began as a physical, mental and spiritual discipline in India thousands of years ago – more of a way of life than just an exercise technique. Yogis traditionally attained a state of spiritual insight and enlightenment by practising for hours every day, and the primary goal of yoga is still to attain tranquillity of body and mind. Different forms of yoga and yogic meditation are practised in Buddhism and Zen.

Over the years, many of the yogic teachings were modified to the changing world. Since the beginning of the twentieth century Yoga has become much more focused on breathing and postures, handing us something that perfectly suits the way we live in 2012.

You may picture a slight Indian man with his ankles wrapped around his neck or a slender woman in lycra and think yoga is not for you.  I would like you to picture yourself standing tall and barefoot on your yoga mat, your body is aligned, your posture balanced and you feel centred and calm…
Yoga is for everyone.

Yoga will improve your fitness. It helps build strength, stamina and flexibility. As you learn to control your breath, this can affect how you control your emotions improving your concentration and helping you to deal with stress.
